Green homes have come a long way from prototypes and stereotypes. Today's modern, ecologically responsible homes have usability that combines the best of the old technologies with the new. Certain green architecture buildings can integrate landscapes and earth systems. Ecological architecture means combining sustainable materials with eco-conscious urban and rural lifestyles.

Hyperion Towers

Architect Vincent Callebaut (Paris), was inspired by the tall Hyperion trees of northern California and has designed fully functioning, tower blocks that have an energy output greater than what they'll use.

Thirty-six storey high, this tower will include farms, homes, gyms and more. The towers are designed to take an edge over existing real estate but also to create ecological consciousness.

The towers will integrate farms with special crop rotation and cattle for dairy and meat production. Agricultural by-products will be then used to create other forms of energy.

The designs for these towers are super dreamy, reminding one of another world altogether. Stem-like wooden towers curve up to the sky, connected by a swirl of beams.

NANYANG TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY IN SINGAPORE

Another example of ecological architecture that is both environmentally-friendly and gorgeous, is the green-roofed School of Art, Design, & Media at the Technical University of Singapore.

It's a five stories high structure with a huge amount of glass windows. It is highly energy efficient because the building is created in a swirling semi-circle and minimizes heat loss.

The roof of this building is entirely green. Lawns fully carpet the tops of the building, blending rural and urban landscapes. These lawns serve as gathering spaces, insulation, and sustainable ecosystems.

Bamboo skyscrapers

A unique bamboo skyscraper which was also a semifinalist at the World Architecture Festival (WAF), put a twist on the use of bamboo as a building material. Instead of a single tower rising into the sky, GRG Architects' bamboo building is a connected series of continuously rising towers, spiraling their way towards the clouds. The design was inspired by the structure of bamboo forests, where bamboo trees of different heights, widths and types grow side by side in harmony without actually obstructing growth. There is probably no way to fully eliminate the impact of each major construction project over environment. But there are enough environmentally-conscious famous architects in this country to make sure that the issue is being addressed and are working towards environmentally friendly architecture in India.
